Membership Information

MEMBERSHIP INFORMATION


The Delaware County Bar Association has been serving the legal community since 1872.  As one of the oldest bar associations in Pennsylvania, the DCBA has a long history of excellence.  The Association welcomes attorneys who practice in Delaware County as well as those whose primary office may be located outside of the county.

To join the DCBA, please complete the application found at the bottom of this page and click “submit”.  Upon receipt of your application, it will be reviewed by the Membership Committee.  Once recommended by the Membership Committee, new members are admitted upon approval of the Board at its monthly meeting.  If you have any questions regarding the application process, please contact Rachel Prince at 610-566-6625, extension 226, or via e-mail at rachel@delcobar.com.

There are several categories of membership as well as a tiered dues structure.  The types of membership and dues are as follows:

General Membership

If you are an attorney who has his/her primary office OR home address in Delaware County, you are eligible to apply for General Membership. General Members are permitted to serve on the Board of Directors and as Committee Chairs as well as enjoy all of the other benefits of membership.

Associate Membership

If you are an attorney whose primary office OR home address is outside of Delaware County, you are invited to join the DCBA as an Associate Member. Associate Members enjoy all of the benefits of membership, except that they cannot serve on the Board of Directors or as Committee Chairs.

Law Student Membership

If you are a student who is actively matriculating at a law school and either live or intend to practice law in Delaware County, you are eligible to join the DCBA as a Law Student Member at no cost. Law Student Members enjoy all of the benefits of membership except that they cannot serve on the Board of Directors or as Committee Chairs and do not receive a copy of the Legal Journal via mail.

Magisterial District Judge/Administrative Judge Membership

If you are a non-attorney Magisterial District Judge or Administrative Judge whose court is located in Delaware County, you are eligible for membership in the DCBA. Members in this category enjoy all of the benefits of membership except that they cannot serve on the Board of Directors or as Chairs of Committees.

Dues

Admitted to practice law one year or less:
Free membership

Admitted more than one and less than three years:
$150.00 per year

Admitted three years or less than ten years:
$190.00 per year

Admitted ten or more years:
$275.00 per year

Age 75 and member of the DCBA for twenty-five years:
Honorary Free membership

Law Student:
Free Membership

Magisterial District Judge/Administrative Judge:
$275.00 per year
